Beech Street Jungle
Portland, OR, 2014
I was commissioned to create a tropical tableau of animal and plant silhouettes to inhabit the Beech Street Apartments, an apartment for women who are graduates of the adjacent substance treatment programs with space for their families to join them as they begin their lives anew. My artwork is sited in five locations within the four-story building.

Stainless steel elements shown to the right and below are attached to a wood wall next to the resident playground.




Using the same silhouettes as seen outdoors, plants and animals were laser cut in cherry plywood and stained in four colors to be applied to the walls with decorative screws. Images below show my installations in the ground floor lobby and mail area.





More animal and plants were added in the elevator waiting areas, as shown below.
