When I am walking, I think about what I'm working on in the studio, and what I'm not working on in the studio. I think about my next meal, and whether the ingredients will fit into my backpack. I think about my parents aging, and my little dog who used to walk with me until his legs hurt too much. I think about the difference between leaving my house on foot, and what it means to drive somewhere else just to walk. I think about walking as an act of slowing down and smiling at a snowdrop, feeling the rain absorb into my shirt sleeves, hearing a thrush call to its mate. This piece is about all of these things I think about when walking, and probably a few more.
